The idea for Heinold-Feller began over a cup of coffee and a donut! Ray Heinold and Lynn Feller knew Valparaiso needed a tire store, and that they would make good business partners in such an endeavor. So Lynn and Maryann Feller moved to Morgan Township, and with Ray and Marie Heinold, opened the business in 1958. Brother-in-laws Ray and Lynn were were farm boys and they had a lot to learn about the tire business!
At first MaryAnn Feller wasn’t too keen on the idea, as her lifelong dream was to be a farmer’s wife, but she soon was as involved in the business as her husband. Eventually, Ray and Marie Heinold left the business and handed it over completely to Lynn and MaryAnn.
Today Joe Feller, Lynn and MaryAnn’s son, manages the business. He started working there when he was just twelve years old, doing odd jobs. Soon Joe was changing tires, and became the LaCrosse store manager at just nineteen years of age. Now Joe’s son carries on the tradition, helping at Heinold-Feller when not attending school.
