Q: Do I need an appointment for work on my vehicle?
A: No appointment is needed for tires, tire repairs or tire rotations. These are done on a first come first serve basis. If you need an alignment or other mechanical repair, you may need an appointment. Please call us for you specific needs. Avoiding the 12:00PM-1:00PM time is helpful, as our technicians go to lunch too.
Q: My “check engine” light came on. What do I do? (It runs good!)
A: Most often, one of your engine sensors is malfunctioning. Even though the vehicle runs OK, it could cause other multiple problems. We could run a complete engine analysis to determine the problem. With today’s fuel prices, you need your engine to run as efficiently as possible!
Q: When I drive at 55 mph or faster, my steering wheel shakes. What could this be?
A: There are many possibilities, such as a tire out of balance, bent rim, or suspension part excessively worn. Bring your vehicle to our shop for inspection as soon as possible.
Q: My car pulls to the right all the time. What could be wrong?
A: Your car could have an alignment problem, or possibly a brake could be sticking. An alignment problem will wear tires out prematurely. A sticking brake can be a safety issue and will affect fuel economy. Bring your car in to have a certified technician check it out.
Q: When I drive with my headlights on, the battery light on the dash lights up. What do I do?
A: We would be glad to run a charging system test, and this should be done soon! Either the battery is bad or the charging system is not working properly. It could be overcharging the battery or not charging it enough. Contact us today.
Q: My heater does not blow hot air like it did last year. What could be wrong?
A: There are several possibilities. The engine thermostat may not be keeping the engine at the proper temperature, the heater core could be plugged, or the heater controls may not be operational. Bring your vehicle in for an inspection.
Q: I turn on my windshield wipers and they just jiggle a little and don’t move. What’s wrong?
A: This could be a wiper arm stripped out or a wiper transmission problem. We will be happy to look at the problem. Stop in at either our Valparaiso or LaCrosse location.
Q: My vehicle did not pass emissions. Are you certified to do the work?
A: Yes, we are. We will do a diagnostic test for $75. Please call for an appointment.
Q: Can your shop do extended warranty work?
A: Yes! We can do most aftermarket warranty work. Our ASE certified technicians are well qualified to fix many extended warranty situations. Please give us a call.
Q: Do you offer shuttle or loaner services?

Q: What is your 90 day financing all about?
A: We offer a Bridgestone/Firestone Car Care Credit Card financed through Credit First. Qualified applicants will receive 90 days with no interest charges if the balance is paid off in 90 days and at least a minimum monthly payment is made every 30 days. Q: When I use my brakes, the car shakes and the brake pedal pulsates. Are my brakes going out?
A: Possibly the brake rotors or drums are warped causing the vibration/pulsation. This can increase your stopping distance. The brakes should be inspected as soon as possible. Stop in today!
Q: I hear a squealing noise under my hood like a bird chirping when the engine is running. What could that be?
A: There are a couple of possibilities. The serpentine belt could be bad, the belt tensioner could be worn out, or the noise could be coming from the water pump or the alternator. Please bring your vehicle in for an inspection right away.
Q: I get a moldy-nasty smell in the car when I turn on the air conditioner or heater. What could cause this?
A: Many vehicles now have a cabin filter. This is a HEPA filter to clean the air inside the passenger compartment. Also, the evaporator core could be moldy. We stock a full line of cabin filters and would be glad to service your needs. Stop in today!
Q: When I step on the brake, the car pulls hard. What’s wrong?
A: Most likely, you have a brake caliper not releasing or a brake hydraulic problem not releasing pressure to the front brake. This needs fast attention. Do not delay in getting the vehicle inspected! Stop in at either of our stores as soon as possible.
Q: I have to keep adding 5-10 pounds of air to my tires every month. This is aggravating! What’s wrong?
A: With most cars now having aluminum wheels, they tend to form corrosion inside the wheel where the tire seals to the rim. The rims may need to be ground clean, where the tire meets the rim, and then resealed. We can then inflate your tires with nitrogen to reduce or eliminate corrosion and slow leaks. This will also improve your fuel economy.
Q: I just had my tires rotated and now my steering wheel shakes at highway speeds. What is causing this?
A: You probably have a tire out of balance. This would not be as noticeable on the rear position. We will be glad to check this out . Stop in today!
